J.R.R. Tolkien’s lines from the Fellowship of the Rings– “I wish it need not have happened in my time,” said Frodo. “So do I,” said Gandalf, “and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”
As we all make our way through this global crisis, let us be aware that the time that we have been given is precious and sacred. Each day contains opportunity for a new gift, which will arrive as predictably as the sunrise and sunset. What is the gift that you will experience today? What is the action for yourself in this particular time?
I think that Gandalf has it right – deciding what to do with the time we have is part of our unique calling as human beings. Allow yourself to experience that as an opportunity to make a choice about how you would like to utilize each and every given day.
